My name is Yati Razak. I fell in love with this breed after first laying my eyes on it in the year 2000. Since subsequent queries across Malaysia about this beautiful breed had yielded no positive leads, I would console myself by admiring pictures of these beautiful cats in books or websites.

My boyfriend who had noticed my interest finally managed to persuade Miss Lisa Jurkiewicz of Lukhaila Cattery (Australia) to part with one of her kittens to console me after my 12 year old mixed Persian named Juliet passed away in 2002. He secretly acquired a male British Blue Shorthair kitten aged 4 months old. My first British Blue Shorthair, the cat that I had dreamed about arrived into our loving home in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia in February 2003. I was overjoyed to meet Lukhaila Blue Beard or Jules as he is now fondly known as now.

Following advice from my veterinarian, Dr Hasnol Ismail of Hesmael's Clinic for Pets, I decided to join the Feline Society of Malaysia then headed by Mr. Wilson Ng and affiliated to the Cat Fanciers’ Association with the hope of promoting this breed in Malaysia as well as to interact and bond with other cat lovers.

My first CFA cat show in conjunction with the Malaysian Independence Day in August 2003 held at the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia opened my eyes to the loving passion and quest shared by exhibitors to promote their cats and breed despite the sacrifices involved. I decided to devote more time and effort to promote the British Shorthair breed in Malaysia by pursuing a high quality and distinguished bloodline that would symbolize and further enhance the reputation of the British Shorthair in Malaysia, Singapore, the Phillipines and Thailand.

Despite many trials and tribulations especially from breeders wary on my intentions, I managed to convince Miss Vera Chan of Autumnleaf Cattery (Hong Kong) to let me have 2 breeding queens, Autumnleaf Alyssa of Bluebabe and Autumnleaf Ameena of Bluebabe to begin my program. My cattery, Bluebabe Cattery has since been registered with the Cat Fanciers' Association and will focus on breeding and promoting the British Blue Shorthair. I breed British Shorthair from English, American and Australian lines and exhibit them both in Malaysia and abroad. The lines include Stonehaven, Brittasweet, Marshallpark, Kaloofa, Kendrick, Autumnleaf and Willcombe.
